Minimally Invasive Neck Lift

Define & Rejuvenate

If you are bothered by a poorly defined jawline and/or fat accumulation under the chin, minimally invasive necklift surgery may be right for you. Dr. Mueller is world renowned for his skill in being able to restore a neckline with sculpted contours and angles creating a natural appearance.

As we age, the skin, fatty tissue, muscle, and glands under the jaw line begin to sag downward. This process results in the loss of a youthful jaw line. The loss of jaw line definition and sculpted neck contours results in the appearance of an aging neck. There are many procedures utilized to rejuvenate the neck. In some patients, liposuction alone improves neck contours. Although, many patients require liposuction combined with neck muscle tightening and or muscle repositioning. A minimally invasive necklift is a surgical procedure to improve the area around the neck, such as:

  • Poorly defined jawline brought about by genetics
  • Loss of jawline definition brought about by aging
  • Loss of sculpted neck contours
  • Fat accumulation under the chin
  • Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw can make even a person of normal weight appear to have a double chin

Rejuvenation procedures typically performed in conjunction with a minimally invasive necklift are chin augmentation, to create a more defined chin, a brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, eyelid surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes, and laser treatments to regenerate collagen and improve skin laxity.

Minimally invasive necklift surgery is a good option for you if:

  • Healthy

    You are physically healthy

  • Non-Smoker

    You do not smoke

  • Positive

You have a positive outlook and specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance

Dr. Mueller’s patented suture support system and Trampoline Platysmaplasty using iGuide technology

In 1999 Dr. Mueller invented the Trampoline Platysmaplasty to help improve the results of neck rejuvenation. In the early stages, it was used as a technique to help smooth neck contours after performing traditional muscle-tightening techniques. Many of these required cutting and/or movement of the muscle tissue. At times these maneuvers resulted in skin contour deformities secondary to muscle manipulation and movement. Dr. Mueller became aware that he could obtain results that were equal to or better than other techniques by using the Trampoline suture support system as a stand-alone procedure. This technique involves the placement of a suture matrix underneath the entire jaw line, which is similar to a shoe lace. The suture support system is placed through an incision under the chin yielding consistent as well as successful results for almost a decade.

Dr. Mueller’s innovative minimally invasive necklift technique was first utilized in September of 2007. Less invasive techniques have been Dr. Mueller’s focus for the last several years. Dr. Mueller has created a surgical technique that uses a completely new approach to facial and neck rejuvenation. Dr. Mueller’s revolutionary technique allows many conventional procedures to be performed with minimal to no incisions at all. This ability has shortened recovery time approximately by 80% compared to traditional surgeries.

What minimally necklifts won’t do:

A minimally invasive necklift does not change your fundamental appearance and cannot stop the aging process. It does not address excess skin brought about by aging, as it does not trim excess skin. Typically, this procedure does not provide sufficient outcomes for people who are above 50 years of age and have significant skin laxity.

Is it right for me?

A minimally invasive necklift can only be performed surgically; non-surgical rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve the same results, but may help delay the time at which a necklift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery. Minimally invasive necklift surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

What Happens During Minimally Invasive Necklift Surgery

01

Medications are administered for your comfort during a minimally invasive necklift procedure. This procedure is commonly done under local anesthesia but can also be done using intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Dr. Mueller will recommend the best choice for you.

02

Since a minimally invasive necklift does not include trimming of excess skin, there is typically only one small incision, a ¾ to 1 inch incision under the chin. Because the incision is so small, sutures may not be necessary.

Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the neck using liposuction. Underlying tissue is repositioned, commonly the deeper layers of the neck and the muscles are also tightened and lifted. Then a suture support system (Trampoline), similar to a shoe lace is placed under the entire jaw line.

03

Minimally invasive necklift results will be long lasting. The visible improvements of a minimally invasive necklift appear as swelling subsides.

It may take a few weeks for most of the swelling to dissipate, and a month or more for all the swelling to dissipate.

Life-long sun protection will help to maintain your rejuvenated appearance by minimizing photo-aging or sun damage. In addition, a healthy lifestyle will also help extend the results of your rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.

Your final result should not only restore a more youthful and rested appearance, but also help you feel more confident about yourself.
